Documentary
I was born with the rare blood coagulation disease hemophilia. However, in the early eighties I was infected with hiv and hep-c through medicinal blood products.
In 2011 my health deteriorated terribly.
Then I ended up in a medical and emotional roller coaster. I noticed that medical specialists did not consult each other and if I had not rebelled together with my wife, I probably would not have lived by now.
We managed to create an "interdisciplinary" team that meets before each treatment.
After the publication of my book and the lectures, in which I want to convince doctors and nurses that the 'patient as a person'
must be central, I also had a documentary made to support my mission.

Ik ben geboren met de zeldzame bloedstollingsziekte hemofilie. Echter, begin jaren 80, werd ik via medicinale bloedproducten besmet met hiv en hep-c. In 2011 verslechterde mijn gezondheid schrikbarend. Vervolgens kwam ik terecht in een medische en emotionele achtbaan. Ik merkte dat medisch specialisten niet met elkaar overlegden en als ik niet samen met mijn echtgenote zelf in opstand was gekomen, had ik nu waarschijnlijk niet meer geleefd. We wisten het voor elkaar te krijgen dat een ´interdisciplinair´ team werd gevormd, dat vóór elke behandeling bij elkaar komt. Na het uitgeven van mijn boek en de lezingen, waarbij ik medici en verpleegkundigen ervan wil overtuigen dat de ‘mens achter de patiënt’ centraal moet staan, heb ik ter ondersteuning van mijn missie ook een documentaire laten maken.
